There are systems of marginalization and oppression like white supremacy, patriarchy, capitalism, colonialism, toxic religion, and so on.
These systems impact our clients, and they impact our clients' success in their work with us.
(They impact us, too, of course!)
And yet, far too often these deeply traumatizing and impactful systems don't get acknowledged or discussed in the coaching/healing relationship.
This is a major problem, for so many reasons:
~ When systemic ish isn't acknowledged, the individual takes the blame for whatever problems there are...even if the problems and causes are systemic.
~ A lot of coaching/healing trainings and leaders teach that external circumstances are neutral, or to "love what is." Systems of oppression are not neutral. And loving racism, sexism, classism, and other forms of marginalization simple because they exist? That's a hard nope.
~ Most coaches and healers are white. White coaches/healers need to understand and acknowledge the impacts that white supremacy can have on clients of all races and ethnicities, and especially people of color. Because...
~ Not acknowledging or talking about the systemic ish doesn't make it go away; it actually helps it become more firmly entrenched in our clients' psyches and lives, and leads to them further internalizing themselves as the problem.
~ Many of our clients have trauma due to systemic issues. If we don't talk about or acknowledge these systems, how can we support our clients in getting the support they need?
And more.
Now, I get that it can be uncomfortable to discuss these topics...especially for people who might not have marginalized identities.
Like...
A white coach/healer might have a hard time figuring out how to talk about white supremacy and how it might be impacting their client.
Or a cis and male coach/healer might have a hard time figuring out how to talk about sexism and patriarchy, and how that might be impacting their client.
And so on.
That's why I'm offering my masterclass "Addressing Systemic Ish With Your Clients": so coaches and healers can recognizing when systemic ish is affecting our clients, can learn how to talk about these challenging topics in ways that support and validate our clients' experience, and support them on their path to transformation.
During this 90 minute masterclass, I'll go into:
~ Systems of oppression (SoO) and how they can manifest for our clients
~ Why it's important to acknowledge SoO and name them
~ Best practices for how to talk about SoO
